Configuring Chat Behavior on a Pod in Convertpods

Tutorial: Configuring Chat Behavior on a Pod in Convertpods

This tutorial focuses on setting up the chat behavior for a live event or a ‘Pod’ in Convertpods. You will learn how to enable or disable live chat, manage the display of attendee counts, and simulate or show actual attendee numbers.

Step 1: Accessing Chat Settings in the Live Tab

  • Go to the Live Tab: In Convertpods, navigate to the live tab where you manage your Pods (live events).

Step 2: Configuring Live Chat Box

Disable Chat Option:

  • If you want the chat box turned off during the Pod, select ‘Disable chat’.

  • This will ensure no live chat is available during the event.

Enable Live Chat Option:

  • To have a more interactive session, choose ‘Enable live chat’.

  • You can pre-configure comments to appear as if they are being made live, enhancing the dynamism of the event.

Step 3: Managing Display of Attendee Count

  • Option to Hide Attendee Count:

    • Select ‘Don’t display the attendee count’ if you wish to keep the number of attendees private.

    • This option is useful for maintaining confidentiality or if the attendee count is not a focus of the event.

  • Showing Actual Attendee Numbers:

    • Choose ‘Actual real attendees in the room’ to display the true number of participants.

    • This option is recommended for a Hybrid Pod, where you wish to show actual engagement.

  • Simulating Attendee Numbers:

    • For a more dynamic presentation, select ‘Simulated Max number of attendees’.

    • The system will replicate a typical attendance curve throughout the event, which can be useful for simulating a larger audience.

Step 4: Setting Up Dynamic Attendance

  • Enter Simulated Attendee Number: If you chose to simulate attendee numbers, input the maximum number you wish to display (e.g., 1142 attendees).

  • Monitor the Attendance Curve: The system will create a dynamic attendance curve based on the number you set, changing throughout the event.

OTHERS

  • Understand Each Setting: Take time to understand what each chat and attendee setting does.

  • Experiment with Settings: Try different configurations in a test Pod to see how they affect the event’s dynamics.

  • Seek Feedback: If possible, get feedback from a small audience on the chat and attendee display settings.

Final Step: Confirm and Launch

After configuring the chat behavior and attendee display settings, review your choices to ensure they align with the goals of your Pod. Once satisfied, save your settings and proceed to launch your Pod. Monitor the chat and attendee interactions during the event to gauge the effectiveness of your settings.

This tutorial provides a comprehensive guide on how to manage chat interactions and attendee displays in a Pod, ensuring you can tailor the experience to match the needs of your event and audience in Convertpods.
